I have at least 15 pairs of Birkenstocks, both open and clogs, as I have occasional bouts of plantar fascitis (for those who don’t know, be glad–very painful heels!). Due to a couple of clumsy trips (my Birks flopped when they should have flipped, catching on the pavement), I wanted something secure on my foot but still airy (wearing Birks for so long, I’m not a fan of “closed” shoes). Friend suggested Chacos, but on searching online, thought Keens looked like the thing. So, tried on the Venice H2 at a local store, but bought online due to limited colors at the store. I’ve had them for almost a year now. Have not had to wash yet; don’t make my toes (or socks–yes, I live in Seattle, and as a Birk wearer, got over the “socks with sandals” thing a LONG time ago) black or discolored in any way (some Birks do!); don’t make my feet sweaty or stinky (though I don’t usually have such a problem anyway). They are VERY lightweight, yet stay stable–don’t allow your feet to “wander” and aren’t floppy on. With my very sensitive feet, I can walk around on pavement without pain. Suggestion: Play with the bungees to adjust; my friend (guy) got a pair, and was initially thinking too tight (he has wide, Fred Flintstone feet; mine are slim–shows you how adjustable they are!)–I told him to adjust, and he admitted they were then perfect–he’s now a convert too! (Kept saying too expensive before.) Yeah, they aren’t cheap, but I’m back for another pair. I’d rather have one pair of these than 10 of inferior shoes. Oh, and I constantly get compliments–including from an Italian friend who’s very fashion oriented!
